The Department of Libraries and Instructional Technology (LIT) is dedicated to the promotion of a myriad of literacies. With LITCon, we are converging information, media, and digital literacies to empower educators to develop innovative and engaging classroom experiences for all of our students at CPS. The sessions at LITCon will also center around the 4Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity) in order to further support meaningful student engagement.

A news-literate student is empowered to be reliably informed. They recognize the differences between news and opinion, identify misinformation, apply fact-checking and logic-checking tools and recognize cognitive biases. They prioritize information from verified sources of news and information to be active and engaged in the civic life of their communities.
